A joint venture between The University of
Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital

The Doherty Institute is a global leader in tackling infectious diseases and understanding the immune system.

Established through a unique partnership between the University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Institute brings together world-class researchers, clinicians, and public health experts to improve health outcomes locally and globally.

Our work spans discovery science, clinical research, public health, and education, all underpinned by collaboration across Themes and Cross-Cutting Disciplines. From fundamental research into microbes and immunity to real-world solutions for disease prevention, treatment, and control, we aim to translate knowledge into impact.
